Last night at a small group meeting, I opened my journal to record a friend's prayer requests. There in front of me was a poignant reminder of the moments I spent with the Lord earlier that morning. This is what I had written:
Thursday, 27 Octo
And (as my oldest daughter entered my bedroom just as my pen rounded off that second "O") that was the entirety of my morning devotional.
Most happily married since October of 2003, we love Jesus Christ, being married to each other, our wild and crazy kids, and serving our dear church. (Also Pixar movies. And pasta.) David is the Tech Director at Covenant Life; Cara is a full time wife, mama and homemaker who's taking her first whack at the homeschooling thing this year. We're pretty simple (read: boring) folks, but we have lots of long-distance family members who enjoy staying in touch by reading here, and if you'd care to join them--welcome!
Meg
At six years old, our big girl is an enthusiastic kindergartner living life at maximum volume. She's brim full of energy, emotion, affection, big words, drama, and very loud laughter. Her delights include singing, reading, dancing, goofing, yelling, shrieking, opining, mothering, helping, bossing, dressing, and quoting movies.
Matthew
Our four-year old has enough raw emotion to fuel the cast of a soap opera. He's alternately rough-and-tumble and fragile, sharp and clueless. He's extremely noisy, highly inquisitive, and as loving and tender as they come. Matthew digs Spider-Man. A lot. He also loves to make people laugh--bonus points if it's one his sisters.
Esme
Esme (pronounced EZ-mee) is two years old and all girl. She's spunky and silly, chatty and independent, and utterly charming. She loves dressing up in princess clothes, dressing up in church clothes--especially tights--and making messes.
Graham David
Born January 11th, 2012, this guy is the sweetest, huge-grinningest baby ever. We are all his adoring slaves.
